The Quick Hop: Taking the Ferry from Paros to Antiparos
Reaching the serene island of Antiparos is famously easy, thanks to the constant ferry connections from its larger neighbour, Paros. This short inter-island journey is the final and most charming leg of your journey.
1. The Ultra-Fast Car Ferry: Pounta to Antiparos
This is the primary, year-round route and the fastest way to reach the island.
-
Departure Point: Pounta Port (Do not confuse this with Punda Beach!). Pounta is on the western side of Paros and is easily reached by bus or taxi from Parikia or the airport.
-
Travel Time: A mere 7 minutes across the strait.
-
Schedule & Frequency: Ferries run throughout the day and well into the late evening (often until 1:00 AM or later in peak summer), with departures typically every 20 to 30 minutes.
-
Vehicle Transport: These landing craft ferries carry cars, scooters, and motorbikes, making it ideal if you plan to explore Antiparos with your own vehicle.
-
Tickets: Tickets are inexpensive (a few Euros for a foot passenger) and are purchased directly on board—no advance booking is needed or possible. Cash is usually required.
2. The Scenic Passenger Boat: Parikia to Antiparos
This option is perfect for day-trippers staying in Parikia who do not have a vehicle.
-
Departure Point: Parikia Port (Paros' main harbour).
-
Travel Time: Approximately 30 minutes.
-
Schedule & Frequency: This route is seasonal (typically runs from late April/May through October) and offers several daily crossings, but less frequently than the Pounta route.
-
Vehicle Transport: This is a foot passenger only service.
-
Tickets: Purchased at a small booth at the main Parikia port before boarding.
In short, whether you choose the quick shuttle from Pounta or the scenic route from Parikia, crossing the channel to Antiparos is a seamless part of the Cycladic island experience.
